What's the difference between Boost and Normalize?
Volume Boost multiplies the entire audio by a fixed gain (e.g., 2x louder). Normalize automatically finds the peak volume and adjusts the entire file so the loudest point reaches optimal level without clipping.
Will boosting cause distortion?
Our tool uses soft clipping (tanh function) to prevent harsh digital distortion. At very high gain levels you may notice some saturation, but it will sound much better than hard clipping.
What does normalization do exactly?
Normalization analyzes your entire audio file, finds the loudest peak, then scales everything so that peak reaches 95% of maximum volume. This maximizes loudness without any distortion.
