Perfect for Podcasters & Content Creators

Long pauses and dead air can make recordings feel unprofessional. Our silence remover automatically detects and strips out quiet sections, tightening up your audio without manual editing. The adjustable threshold and duration settings give you full control over what gets removed, so natural speech pauses stay intact while awkward silences disappear.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does silence detection work?

The tool analyzes your audio using RMS (Root Mean Square) amplitude measurement in small windows. Any section where the volume stays below your chosen threshold for longer than the minimum silence duration is detected and removed.

What does the threshold setting control?

The threshold (in decibels) determines what counts as silence. A lower value like -60 dB is more sensitive and will only remove very quiet sections. A higher value like -20 dB is less sensitive and will remove more of the audio.

What is the minimum silence duration?

This setting controls how long a quiet section must be before it's removed. Set it lower (0.1s) to remove short pauses, or higher (2-3s) to only remove long gaps of silence.

Will it remove natural pauses in speech?

It depends on your settings. With default settings (0.5s minimum silence), natural speech pauses are usually preserved. Increase the minimum silence duration if you want to keep more pauses.

Is this good for podcast editing?

Absolutely. Silence removal is one of the most common podcast editing tasks. It helps tighten up recordings by removing dead air, long pauses, and gaps between segments.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. All processing happens in your browser using the Web Audio API. Your audio files never leave your device.
